New Coffee Crop Report @Barriques

On January 12, 2012, in Announcements, Coffee News, by Barriques

We are kicking off the new year w/ the arrival of several new lots of our existing coffees that have just landed in the roastery.   We wanted to share with your our first-roasts impressions.  These coffees were brought in because it’s the second half of the Northern Hemisphere crop year, the time when some of the very best coffees emerge. We pay a premium for the quality that is present in these beans but WOW, does it pay off after you get a taste!

Here are some brief  tasting notes on several of the origins that we have new lots of:

COSTA RICA TARRAZU: Bodacious!…bright and immaculately clean with an extra bit of citrusy sweetness mid-mouth.

KENYA TOP CUP: Our fresh peaberries are here! A very fresh and lively Kenya cup that’s sweet with bright red and citrus fruit flavors.  This was the show stealer.

ETHIOPIA HARAR: The same great fruit flavor we’ve had – with refreshed intensity and slightly darker notes.

ETHIOPIA YRGACHEFFE: A bit heavier, more intense version of this classic washed coffee.

Also, some notable new deliveries of current origins:

GUATEMALA HUEHUETENANGO: Our Tres Marias HueHue has it all – Winy, crisp, sweet and creamy and intense!

BALI KINTAMANI NATURAL: No difference at all, and that’s a GOOD thing…just open a bag and smell!

These coffees are just starting to show up in the stores this week so keep a look out for them.
